Another Azalea Parade in the History Books! A Special Thank You goes out to Amber, Diane from the City Of Brookings, City Of Brookings Counsel, City Of Brookings Police Dept, and City Of Brookings Public Works. I look forward to working with all of you next year. And also a Special Thank You to all who volunteered to support this annual event :

  • Pelican Bay Amateur Radio Club Operators
  • Gold Beach Amateur Radio Club Operators
  • Curry Amateur Radio Emergency Services Team.

I have had nothing but positive comments from many people, including the City Of Brookings Mayor, City Staff and PD. All thought we did a great job. We were {said to be Very Professional. This year we took things to a New Level, running the Event Communications using the Incident Command Systems { ICS } methods.

This Year’s Two RADO’s (ICS: lead RADio Operator) were Cindy as ICP-1* / Operations and Sandy as ICP-2* Emergency Communications . Having two Incident Command Posts (each on a different channel) was another first for us . Both of these members performed their roles great! We are still tallying all the Radio Traffic handled at ICP-1. (It was a lot!) Another first for our group was the deployment of the Emergency Radio Communications Box, used to support all the Communications. We will be able to use this for many events, and it will be helpful for more members to become familiar with how to set it up and use it.

We could not have done all this without Diane’s help from the City . I’m still adding up all the Volunteered Hour’s we logged getting ready for this event (considering PreMeeting’s, Drill’s, the Event itself and the After Action Hot Wash.) hanks again to Steve and Allen from Gold Beach Amateur Radio Club for helping us with this event. This is a great way for our members to give back to our Community.
